About the Hosts
Emily Zarka, Ph.D. is a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University and holds a Ph.D. in British Romantic Victorian Literature with an emphasis on the Gothic. Her research explores the roles of desire and knowledge dissemination in portrayals of undead characters produced during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. She approaches literature and film through monsters, applying the theory that human history is monster history.
Moiya McTier, Ph.D., is an astrophysicist and folklorist based in NYC. After graduating from Harvard as the first person in the school’s history to study both astronomy and mythology, Moiya earned her PhD in astrophysics at Columbia University. Moiya hosts and produces the Exolore podcast about fictional world building.
