    Helena Bonham Carter

    Helena Bonham Carter
Helena Bonham Carter stars in Nolly on MASTERPIECE on PBS

Playing flamboyant, red-headed soap opera queen Noele “Nolly” Gordon is just another feather in the cap of Helena Bonham Carter, a British national treasure who moves effortlessly between characters that are larger than life (Madame Thenardier in Les Misérables, Miss Havisham in Great Expectations, Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter films, and Marla Singer in Fight Club) and refined aristrocrats (Margaret in The Crown, Queen Elizabeth in The King’s Speech). Lovers of period dramas will no doubt hold in their collective hearts Bonham Carter’s “English rose” performances from the Merchant Ivory era as Lucy Honeychurch in A Room with a View, Caroline Abbott in Where Angels Fear to Tread, Helen Schlegel in Howard’s End, and later as Kate Croy in The Wings of the Dove.

Nolly premieres Sunday, March 17 at 9/8c on MASTERPIECE.
